Tania is a respected leader in the arts, education, and community development sectors. She currently serves as the General Manager of Mīharo Murihiku Trust and sits on the national executive board for Pasifika Festivals Aotearoa Inc. Her leadership is grounded in a deep commitment to cultural celebration, youth empowerment, and building resilient, connected communities.

Tania brings a diverse professional background to her role, including several years working on a sheep and swede farm in rural Southland. During this time, she was involved in the management and coordination of exports to the United Kingdom, a role that demanded strong logistical planning, attention to detail, and cross-border communication. This experience fostered a deep respect for the whenua and an appreciation for the resilience of rural communities, values that continue to guide her leadership today.

Her connection to Mīharo began in 2009 as a volunteer. In 2017, she became the organisation’s first full-time employee, taking on programme development, event coordination, administration, and community engagement. Appointed General Manager in 2023, she now leads strategic direction, operations, HR, and national partnerships, driving Mīharo’s continued growth and reach.

With a degree in education and several years as a classroom teacher, Tania brings strong foundations in kaupapa Māori, education, and youth development. Her approach is both strategic and people-focused, informed by her experience across community sectors.

Tania is a passionate advocate for Māori and Pacific artists, championing equity and access in the arts. She works to ensure artists are seen, supported, and celebrated, while rangatahi are empowered through creative expression and cultural identity.

Her leadership is grounded in her deep ties to Murihiku and her whānau, which includes her husband, three adult children, her youngest son Kai, and two beloved mokopuna. Tania’s vision continues to uplift the people, stories, and cultures that shape and strengthen our communities.
